Abercrombie & Kent Manages Myanmar Relief Effort

Relief agencies worldwide continue to struggle to cut through red tape and gain access to Myanmar to help victims of Cyclone Nargis. This morning, sources have adjusted the death toll upwards to 200,000, with many more deaths to come from disease and starvation. Abercrombie & Kent Myanmar has managed to mobilize teams on the ground and has contributed $5,000 for essential supplies such as rice, drinking water, cooking oil, medicines, clothing and temporary shelters. The first shipment has already left the capital of Yangon by truck, bound for the ravaged Irrawaddy Delta and the town of Pathein where thousands of refugees are starving.

Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy has donated an additional $10,000 in immediate aid and is coordinating fundraising efforts through Friends of Conservation to enable staff, past travelers and travel industry partners to contribute as generously as possible with the knowledge that 100 percent of all funds collected will go directly to purchasing and distributing life-saving supplies to those most in need.
