DIRECTV Upgrades Hotel TV Product

televisionDIRECTV is expanding the on-demand programming available through its Residential Experience for hotels, a move aimed at taking the pressure off hotels’ Wi-Fi networks as guests spend less time watching video on their portable devices. The newly enhanced DRE also has a fully customizable “welcome screen” with cascading control at the brand and property levels to create a consistent digital presence across locations and promote hotel amenities and events.

Guests can have access to thousands of on-demand shows and movies available on DIRECTV’s at-home video-on-demand service, including newly released movies like they have at home (select titles available 28 days before Netflix and Redbox). Additionally, guests can enjoy the same HBO and SHOWTIME offerings of on-demand movies and original series available on DIRECTV’s residential platform at no additional cost and without the need for the guest to subscribe or log-in.

DIRECTV’s new guest welcome screen PRO is completely customizable by brand or property and can be personalized for guests. Hotels can also use the Welcome Screen to generate revenue through ad banners and promote loyalty programs, hotel amenities and special events. The welcome screen is controlled in the cloud so it can be updated anytime.

DRE, which is currently in more than 2,000 locations across the country, will also offer hotel guests additional on-demand shows from popular television networks and DIRECTV exclusive original programming, such as Kingdom and Rogue, at no additional cost.
