Ritz-Carlton San Francisco Completes Revamp
A neoclassical landmark perched atop Nob Hill, The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, has recently completed a multi-phase restoration. The full-room renovation — the final phase of the project — was unveiled at the end of March. The design by Hirsch Bedner Associates drew inspiration from the Bay and the city’s notorious fog — hence the color scheme for the 336 guest rooms reflects “steely blues” and gray. The redesign also added a lot of high-tech amenities, such as Virtual Concierges in the lobby and meeting rooms.
California’s Carmel Valley Gets New Lodge & Spa
Following a four-month, multimillion-dollar transformation, the 57-room Bernardus Lodge & Spa in Carmel Valley, CA, began welcoming guests last month. Curated for epicureans and romantics, highlights include the new Lucia Restaurant & Bar under Chef Cal Stamenov, redesign of all luxury guest rooms, reconfigured public spaces with an indoor/outdoor aesthetic, expanded wedding and event spaces and re-envisioned Carmel Spa.
Bermuda’s Hamilton Princess Unveils Renovation
Hamilton Princess & Beach Club, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, Bermuda’s iconic harbor-side resort, will unveil phase two of its more than $90 million renovation this month. The second phase includes Marcus’, a new harbor-side restaurant from celebrity Chef Marcus Samuelsson, renovation of guest rooms and suites in the Gazebo Wing of the hotel, and a new lobby bar and restaurant, Crown & Anchor. In addition, a Princess Beach Club will open at South Beaches. The renovation of the 88 guest rooms and suites in the Gazebo Wing includes all new furniture and fixtures, and upgraded Wi-Fi and audio-visual features. Rooms in the Poinciana Wing and Bermudiana House were renovated during phase one in 2014 and unveiled last summer.
Astor Hotel Saint-Honoré In Paris Joins Curio
Hilton Worldwide has announced plans to rebrand the historic Astor Hotel Saint-Honoré in Paris under its boutique Curio – A Collection by Hilton brand. The hotel, owned by Maranatha Group, will undergo a substantial refurbishment prior to welcoming its first guests under the Curio brand in 2016 and will open under a franchise between Maranatha and Hilton Worldwide. Upon completion of the refurbishment, the Astor will have 128 guest rooms and suites, set over six floors and housed within a traditional, 107-year-old building.
JW Marriott Opens Second Mumbai Hotel
JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts continues to grow its India presence with the opening of its second hotel in Mumbai, JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar. The brand-new property promises a sophisticated retreat within the energetic city of Mumbai. Less than one mile from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, the luxury five-star property has 585 intimate rooms, which include 163 Deluxe Pool rooms, 23 Deluxe Suites, 23 Executive Balcony Rooms and one Presidential Suite. It also houses several restaurants / bars and JW Marriott’s new branded spa concept, Spa by JW.
Amara Bangkok Opens
Amara Hotels & Resorts, an upscale Singaporean hotel brand, has expanded to the Thai market with the new Amara Bangkok, which will be under the hospitality arm of Amara Holdings Limited. The property is set in Surawong in the heart of Bangkok’s popular shopping and nightlife district. Facilities include a rooftop infinity pool and AkaAza rooftop bar on the 26th floor.
