AA Offers Certificates to First-Time Flyers, Adds Lexus PromotionOctober 29, 2009 By: George Dooley
Proving that promotional flair isn’t dead among airlines, American Airlines has launched two new initiatives: a program to recognize new flyers and a free Wi-Fi offer supported by Lexus, the luxury car company.
American says it is hoping to make the first time in the sky memorable for new flyers. The initiative allows a first-time flyer, or if they are traveling with a child who is, to ask any AA flight attendant for a First Flight Certificate, signed by the pilot, to commemorate the first flight experience.
American also uses the promotion to remind consumers that passengers of any age can join American’s AAdvantage Travel Awards Program to begin enjoying the many benefits that AAdvantage membership provides.
American and Lexus also kicked off the season of giving early with a free Wi-Fi inflight promotion for customers traveling on American. Beginning November 1 and running through November 7, American customers traveling on Wi-Fi equipped aircraft can enjoy free Wi-Fi service, compliments of Lexus.
The Gogo powered inflight Internet service lets customers connect to work or home by offering access to e-mail, social media sites, e-shopping or the latest news and sports headlines from their laptops, smartphones and handheld PDAs.
To coincide with the introduction of the new 2010 Lexus LS line, American Airlines passengers can take advantage of the free Wi-Fi promotion by entering the promotion code 2010LEXUSLS to connect to the service. More details about Wi-Fi on American are available at www.aa.com/wifi.
American reports that it was the first U.S. carrier to launch onboard broadband Wi-Fi in August 2008, and the service is currently available to thousands of customers traveling on American’s Boeing 767-200 aircraft and select MD-80 aircraft.
