AirTran Debuts Daily Nonstop Atlanta-Punta Cana Service

Cayo Levantado in Samana Bay, taken by Jens JäpelAirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., has begun daily nonstop service between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Punta Cana International Airport in the Dominican Republic. Punta Cana is the airline's sixth destination in the Caribbean, after Aruba, Cancun, Montego Bay, Jamaica; alongside Nassau, Bahamas and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Service from Atlanta will depart on Flight 1238 at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Punta Cana at 2:55 p.m. Return service will depart the Dominican Republic on Flight 1239 at 4:15 p.m. and arrive at 7:20 p.m. Other tropical areas the airline serves include Key West, Fla., and Bermuda, beginning this spring, April 7, 2011.
