Alaska Adds More West Coast Service to Hawaii

March 30, 2011 By: Deanna Ting

Earlier this week, Alaska Airlines inaugurated nonstop air service between San Jose, CA, and Lihue, on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, on March 27, and service between Oakland, CA, and Lihue on March 28. Departing flights from San Jose operate three times weekly on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays; the flights from Oakland operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The new service complements the airline’s existing Hawaii flights from San Jose and Oakland to Kahului, Maui, and Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii.

“These new flights to the beautiful Garden Isle of Kauai will be a great addition to Alaska’s Hawaii service for our Bay Area customers,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska’s vice president of marketing. “The San Jose and Oakland airports are, indeed, convenient alternatives for Bay Area travelers flying to the Islands.”

With the new service, Alaska Airlines now offers 105 weekly roundtrip flights from the U.S. mainland and the state of Alaska to Hawaii.
