ANA Holdings has announced that ANA (All Nippon Airways) and Vietnam Airlines have launched a codeshare and frequent flyer partnership beginning with their 2016 winter schedule, which starts October 30.

The codeshare will link 10 international routes and 25 domestic routes in both countries. The frequent flyer partnership will allow members of the ANA Mileage Club (AMC) and Lotusmiles to accumulate miles on all codeshare flights operated by the two airlines. Frequent flyers will be able to redeem their rewards on either Vietnam Airlines or ANA.

In addition to the code share and frequent flyer initiatives, Vietnam Airlines cabin crew will join ANA flights in order to assist, interpret for customers, and make in-flight announcements in Vietnamese.

The addition of Vietnam Airlines crew aboard ANA flights comes in response to their integration of select airport support activities, including check in, lounge, baggage service at multiple airports such as Haneda Airport in Japan and Tan Son Nhat Airport in Vietnam.

This partnership comes after ANA Holdings’ acquisition of a minority state (8.8 percent) in Vietnam Airlines earlier this year. This partnership is conditional on the necessary permissions from Japanese and Vietnam authorities.
