Austrian Airlines has won two Passenger’s Choice Awards- Best Business Class Catering and Best Service in Europe- as part of the 2011 World Airline Awards, which took place at the International Paris Air Show. The awards were based on the annual survey by opinion researcher Skytrax, which polled nearly 19 million passengers from 100 different countries.

“We are very happy about this great result that our customers have awarded us,” said Andreas Bierwirth and Peter Malanik of the Austrian Airlines Executive Board. “The outstanding service provided by our staff members and our catering product are a key component of our branding.”

Previously, the Austrian domestic carrier took second place in the Best Business Class Catering and Staff Service Excellence Europe categories at the 2010 World Airline Awards. The airline was also voted overall winner in the “Best Wines on the Wing” category of a wine tasting by Global Traveler in 2010 that tested 115 wines from 26 international airlines.

The World Airline Awards are based on a comprehensive online survey that analyzes customer satisfaction for the entire “Airline Passenger Experience,” from check-in to boarding, seat comfort, cabin cleanliness, food, beverages and staff service.
