BA Union Votes to Strike

After several months of back-and-forth haggling and debates, the Unite union cabin crew members voted "overwhelmingly" to strike against British Airways.

The second ballot, organized after the discarded December attempt, said that 80 percent of the cabin crew, on a turnout of 79 percent, supported the strike. The union is protesting changes BA is introducing to its in-flight service.

However, according to the Times, the Unite union held back from announcing any specific strike dates and urged BA to negotiate an end to the dispute. If the talks fail, however, Unite must announce strike dates within three weeks and industrial action must begin within 28 days. It has already pledged not to strike during the Easter school holidays.
