Bidders Materialize for Alitalia

Several carriers and investors are reportedly interested in buying a stake in the ailing Italian carrier, which went up for sale December 29. Despite the ministry's hope that Alitalia remain in the hands of its home country, Aeromexico, Czech Airlines and Korean Air are also said to be interested in acquiring the airline, as is Air France-KLM, which is reportedly considering buying the carrier to create a new company with other SkyTeam members, reports AFX News. So far, the only Italian to come forward with an interest in Alitalia is businessman Paolo Alazraki. A financial market expert, Alazraki is leading a group of investors to make an offer for the carrier.
