British Airways Raises Fuel Surcharge

British Airways is raising its fuel surcharge on long-haul flights as crude oil prices have skyrocketed to record high levels. The airline will increase the surcharge to about $62.20 per flight, the first increase since September 2005. It will not increase surcharges on short-haul flights where it faces strong competition from Ryanair and other low-cost airlines.
