Continental, China Southern Announce Partnership

June 18, 2007 By: Jennifer Merritt Travel Agent

The agreement between the two carriers calls for frequent flyer and airport lounge access reciprocity, as well as extensive codesharing. Once the codesharing begins in November, customers of the carriers with connecting itineraries will have access to single check in and checked baggage through to their final destination. Also at that time, Continental will place its "CO" code on China Southern flights connecting to Continental's daily flight between New York and Beijing and on China Southern's flights between Guangzhou and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, China Southern will place its "CZ" code on Continental flights connecting with China Southern at Los Angeles. Beginning in September, members of Continental's OnePass and China Southern's Sky Pearl Club will earn and redeem miles on all flights marketed and operated by the other career. Reciprocal airport lounge access will begin once China Southern joins the SkyTeam alliance, which also is expected in November. Visit [] or [].
