Delta Expects $800 Million Profit for 2011

Delta Air Lines, Inc anticipates an $800 million profit for 2011 and also expects to be profitable in 2012. According to the Associated Press, via News Republic, Delta stated that they will earn $1.1 billion, if special items are excluded, for 2011. They have already earned $429 million during the first nine months of 2011. Outside analysts, surveyed by FactSet, expect that Delta’s adjusted net income would be $977 million.

Richard Anderson, Delta CEO, spoke at the company’s recent annual investor conference about the prediction that the airline will still be profitable in 2012, despite higher fuel prices. Delta will also be cutting its flying in 2012 by two to three percent.
