Eurowings, Lufthansa Group’s low-cost subsidiary, has launched its first flights to America, between Cologne, Germany, and Boston

This new flight will give Boston-area residents the opportunity to fly direct to Cologne and beyond, Eurowings said. Cologne, Germany’s fourth largest city, is at the center of North-Rhine Westphalia, the country’s most populous state. With a rich 2,000 year history, Cologne is a cultural hub for the arts and is known for its famous Cathedral and sweeping views of the Rhine river. Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN) also serves Bonn, often called the Federal City since it was formerly the capital of West Germany. For the first time, Eurowings is offering customers a direct connection between North-Rhine Westphalia and Boston at prices starting from 144.99 EUR.

Six months after the initial launch with two Airbus A330 long-haul aircraft, the Eurowings intercontinental fleet has increased in size to four long-haul Airbus aircraft. By next summer, an additional three long-haul aircraft will be stationed at Eurowings' home base in Cologne/Bonn. The plan for this Lufthansa subsidiary is to further expand its presence with new long-haul destinations next year, the airline said.
