Fiji Airways Launches Flights to Wellington, New Zealand From Los Angeles

Beginning on June 25, 2015, travelers will be able to purchase round-trip flights from Los Angeles to Wellington, New Zealand, with Fiji Airways.

The Los Angeles-Wellington route is made possible by the addition of direct flights from Nadi, Fiji, to Wellington. The new Los Angeles- Nadi- Wellington route opens up an additional 328 seats per week between Fiji and New Zealand.

Wellington Airport’s Chief Executive Steve Sanderson said in a statement that Fiji Airways is the first new airline to come to the Wellington Airport in ten years, and that the new service will add up to 34,000 seats to Wellington’s market.

United States visitors using Wellington as their New Zealand point of entry have increased by 35 percent over the last two years. Wellington residents traveling to Fiji and to the United States have grown by more than 20 percent over the same period.

The weekly flight will be complemented by a permanent additional service beginning June 2015.

Fiji Airways operates up to 13 weekly services between Fiji and Auckland and Fiji, and two weekly services between Nadi and Christchurch, which will double in capacity next winter. Fiji Airways is the only airline to offer child discounted airfares as well as a daily business class travel option directly from Fiji to New Zealand.
