Galileo and American Sign Five-Year Deal

Galileo International, a GDS and subsidiary of Travelport (formerly Cendant Travel Distribution Services) inked a five-year, full-content agreement with American Airlines. Through the agreement, all of American's published fares and inventory will be available to all users of the Galileo GDS system including Galileo-connected travel agencies, corporate customers and Travelport online agencies booking through Galileo. The agreement establishes Galileo as a competitive distribution channel for American Airlines ticket sales. Galileo has already announced long-term full content deals with US Airways, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Continental Airlines. Establishing a competitive distribution agreement with Galileo helps American meet its business objective to broaden the distribution of American Airlines' fares at lower costs, according to David Cush, senior vice president, global sales, American Airlines. He also said that Galileo's broad travel agency subscriber base will allow American to offer a cost-effective and comprehensive distribution platform over the long-term.
