IATA Welcomes JetBlueJune 9, 2010 By: Staff
New York's hometown airline JetBlue Airways has become an official member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Joining IATA requires successfully passing the IATA Operational Safety Audit, which JetBlue completed in April 2010. Membership will expand JetBlue's global industry voice and expand partnership opportunities with other airlines. The airline recently signed an interline agreement with South African Airlines, which joins airlines that have interline partnerships with JetBlue such as Lufthansa, American Airlines, Cape Air and AerLingus .
Members of IATA enjoy the support of an international organization that represents, leads and serves the airline industry. From 57 founding members in 1945, IATA now represents some 230 airlines in over 120 countries from around the globe. Carrying 93 percent of the world's international scheduled traffic, IATA members include the worlds leading passenger and cargo airlines.
