JetBlue Cancels Proposed LAX Transcontinental Flights

JetBlue has decided to temporarily cancel its Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) service due to high fuel prices and a sputtering economy. Three daily nonstops from LAX to New York's JFK, as well as one daily nonstop from LAX to Logan International Airport in Boston, were scheduled to begin this month.

The carrier reports that the price of refueling the Airbus A320 it uses for the transcontinental trips has risen 56 percent over last year’s price. Ticket sales have been suspended and JetBlue reports that travelers can request a refund or shift their flight plans to other airports near Los Angeles that receive JetBlue flights. JetBlue’s transcontinental service to Long Beach Airport (LGB) and Oakland (OAK) won’t be affected by the decision.
