Workers at JFK and LaGuardia airports in New York City have announced plans to strike Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, Bloomberg reports.

More than 1,000 baggage handlers, wheelchair attendants and security officers have voted unanimously to authorize the strike, which will begin at 10 pm this evening and continue through July 23.

The strike will begin in JFK's Terminal 7, which houses British Airways, United Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways. Most of the workers who have announced plans to strike work for Delta, while others are employed by British Airways and United Airlines. Workers plan to picket JFK from 10 pm Wednesday through 1 am Thursday morning, while workers at LaGuardia will picket starting at 6 am Thursday.

United Airlines and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, which runs the two airports, have told Bloomberg that contingency plans are in place to avoid travel disruption.
