Venezuela Limits U.S. Airline Flights

Venezuela has decided to limit flights operated by American Airlines, Continental Airlines and Delta Air Lines because it claims U.S. authorities failed to comply with aviation accords. The situation further reflects escalating political tensions between the two nations. Venezuela's INAC aviation authority said in a statement that the U.S. airlines' frequency of passenger and cargo flights would be reduced starting March 1, based "on the principles of equality, reciprocity and fair opportunities." U.S. airline representatives were meeting with Venezuelan authorities Friday to discuss the measure and its impact on their flights.
