AA Launches Priority AccessSeptember 23, 2008 By: George Dooley
American Airlines (AA) is working to enhance the customer’s travel experience with the launch of PriorityAAccess privileges. PriorityAAccess is designed to maximize time and minimize hassles for travelers while at the airport by offering dedicated check-in and security screening lanes, as well as exclusive boarding lanes at the gate to AAdvantage elite and premium class travelers. The program eases check in, security and boarding for AAdvantage Elite Status Members, First and Business Class Travelers, AAirpass Customers, and passengers traveling on Full-Fare Economy Class Tickets.
AA said the new program is one of many customer experience initiatives aimed at differentiating the travel experience for its business travelers. After testing the concept at Los Angeles International Airport and receiving positive customer reviews, American is implementing the program beginning September 30. The full range of PriorityAAccess privileges will be available throughout the majority of American’s network where airport regulations do not restrict the program. The rollout is expected to be completed the end of October.
New features for PriorityAAccess customers include a dedicated check-in area at the ticket counter with distinctive signage clearly identifying PriorityAAccess lines. In addition, “PriorityAAccess” will be printed on boarding passes, designating travelers as American’s top customers. American will offer PriorityAAccess check-in areas at all of the airports it serves worldwide.
Where permitted by airport policy and government security regulations, American will offer exclusive PriorityAAccess security screening lanes. Like the dedicated check-in lines, PriorityAAccess screening lanes will be clearly marked with special signage. Currently, American plans to offer PriorityAAccess screening lanes in its 10 largest airports, as well as in other airports where permitted by the TSA. The airports that will have exclusive PriorityAAccess security screen lanes are: Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago O’Hare, Miami, Los Angeles, New York JFK and La Guardia, St. Louis, San Francisco, Boston and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
