Citing an increase in customers traveling with hand baggage that exceeds their allowance, British Airways has introduced a series of changes to its hand luggage and boarding procedures.
Under the new policy, passengers will still be able to carry two pieces of hand luggage, one of which should be a handbag or laptop-sized bag no larger than 40x30x15cm. Customers traveling in all cabins except First and Club World will receive a yellow tag for their laptop-sized bag that they must display during boarding. However, if the overhead lockers are full, customers may still be asked to check yellow tag luggage.
The size of the second piece of hand luggage remains unchanged, at no larger than 56x45x25cm and no heavier than 23kgs. Customers who travel with hand baggage which is outside of their allowance will be asked to check bags into the hold.
Changes in Boarding Procedure
British Airways has also changed the way in which is boards its flight. Customers will now be invited to board based on the cabin they are traveling in and in order of Executive Club status. All other customers will be asked to board by seat row number. Customers who require extra assistance will continue to be invited to board before everyone else.
