JetBlue Joins Record Number of ARC ParticipantsAugust 26, 2009 By: George Dooley
JetBlue Airways has signed on to be an ARC-participating carrier starting in 2010. JetBlue joins an all-time record number of airlines that are leveraging ARC's settlement and technology solutions to broaden their ticket distribution. There are now 182 ARC participating carriers.
"We are delighted to see a carrier as important as JetBlue create an eticket solution that permits them to take full advantage of the world's single largest travel agency market," ARC's Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Care, Mike Premo said. "At the same time, ARC's more than 18,000 accredited travel agencies gain significant and valuable carrier content."
"In order to optimize new distribution technologies and accommodate our growing business travel market, we are pleased to join ARC to offer agents and their clients' efficient access to JetBlue flights and services," said Noreen Courtney-Wilds, JetBlue's vice president of sales.
JetBlue's participation comes at a time when ARC carrier participation recently reached and exceeded all previous records. The move also underscores ARC’s emergence as a technology solutions company providing transaction settlement and data information services..
Airlines, travel agencies, corporate travel departments, railroads, and other travel suppliers process up to $80 billion annually through ARC's settlement system, making it the financial backbone of travel distribution. ARC COMPASS, a leading source for travel transaction information, powers data and analytical tools that help ARC customers make confident business decisions.
JetBlue currently serves 56 cities with 650 daily flights. New service to Baltimore begins on September 9. The airline also intends to commence service to Barbados (October 1); Saint Lucia (October 26); and Kingston, Jamaica (October 30).
