Lufthansa Begins Online Check-In

Lufthansa passengers departing from any of its 18 U.S. gateways and four Canadian destinations can now check in for their flight online at the airline's website while selecting their seats and printing their boarding pass from any computer. Previously, passengers departing from the U.S. were able to check in online but could only obtain a boarding pass at the airport.

The new service also applies for connecting flights within Europe and beyond, as long as the flights are within a 23-hour period from the time of check-in. By extending this service to all U.S. destinations, the number of Lufthansa home boarding pass-enabled routes will increase to more than 730 routes.

Passengers who have purchased a Lufthansa electronic ticket, or etix, can check in online and obtain their boarding pass by entering one of several forms of identification. This includes their booking code in combination with first and last name, their credit card number, or Miles & More or Star Alliance mileage card number. The check-in process can only be completed once all required passport data and visa information, if applicable, is entered. Once online check-in is successfully completed, passengers can print their boarding pass from any computer.

Upon arrival at the airport, travelers can drop off their luggage at the Lufthansa baggage drop-off counter up to 60 minutes prior to their scheduled departure, or proceed directly to the gate with carry-on baggage only. Gate and other pertinent information are printed on the boarding pass whenever available.
