Report - Senate, House Approve Bill to End FAA Sequester FurloughsApril 26, 2013 By: Adam Leposa
"The President would sign this," White House spokesperson Jay Carney said of the legislation.
The original story continues below:
The Senate has approved a bill aimed at ending the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sequester furloughs, the Washington Examiner reports.
The bill gives Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood "flexibility to transfer certain funds to prevent reduced operations and staffing of the Federal Aviation Administration."
The House of Representatives could begin looking at the bill as early as Friday, April 26, 2013, although a Whitehouse spokesperson who spoke with the Examiner only promised to look at any proposed legislation.
The FAA furloughs have drawn fire from industry groups, including the U.S. Travel Association, for the widespread flight delays and possible harm they may be doing to the economy.
