Tianguis Report: La Amada Hotel in Playa Mujeres to Convert to Full All-Inclusive

ACAPULCO, Mexico – During our coverage of the 36th annual Tianguis Turistico, Travel Agent sat down with Miguel Bautista, senior sales manager for the Excellence Group, and learned that the hotel chain’s La Amada Hotel in Playa Mujeres, Mexico will be a 100-percent all-inclusive resort by January 2, 2012.

The resort added an all-inclusive option in November of last year. Roughly 50 percent of all guests chose the all-inclusive option since it was offered. Bautista says since Excellence Group representatives expected that number to continue to rise, they felt it made more sense to convert to a full all-inclusive.

Located just under 20 minutes outside of Cancún, this is now the third Cancún-area hotel to convert to an-inclusive, following in the footsteps of Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts' ME CancúnLive Aqua Cancún. and

“We just felt like guests seem to enjoy the all-inclusive plan more,” Bautista says. “It just made the most sense for us.”

Travel Agent was on site when the 109-room luxury resort was being built roughly three years ago. Our only complaint with the otherwise impressive resort at the time was that it only had one restaurant. Since our visit, however, the property has added two additional restaurants. The two additional dining options opened in Feburary of 2010, serving as a posible forshadowing of the conversion to an all-inclusive.
