Virgin Vacations President Nigel Osborne reports Indonesia, Turkey, Africa and Asia are best-sellers on the company’s roster of recently-developed small group tours. The most popular mainstream destination is Italy, with Croatia the newest in-demand destination, Virgin Vacations says.

Italy: Osborne suggests an 8-day “Enchanting Italy” escorted tour as an introduction for first-timers visiting the country. Available as an 8-day, 10-day, or 12-day tour, price starts at $1,479 land only and $2,459 air and land, based on November departures from New York for the 8-day itinerary.The air-inclusive tour begins with a flight to Venice and return from Rome.
A similar tour, “Affordable Italy,” is available in the winter months, starting at $1,439 land only for December 2013 and January 2014 departures; and ranges up to $2,629 air and land for December 24 departure.
Croatia: For more seasoned and adventurous travelers Osborne recommends a 14-day Dalmatian Isles, Croatia & Slovenia small-group tour. Priced from $3,929 land only, $5,079 air inclusive, for October 19 departure, the tour includes airfare to Dubrovnik, with return from Venice.
Limited to 18 participants, the tour spends three nights in Dubrovnik, with two nights in Hvar, Opatija, and Bled; and one night each in Split and in Venice. Included are all transfers on the air-inclusive tour, 25 meals with a home-hosted dinner in Dubrovnik.
An 11-day “Affordable Croatia & Slovenia” escorted tour, available October, 2013– April 2014, begins at $1,199 for March 2, 2014 departure for land only, $2,009 for March 2 land and air.
