June 19, 2006 By: Mark Rogers Travel Agent

The Anguilla Tourist Board has announced that the 2006 winter season recorded a 10 percent increase in visitor arrivals for the first quarter of 2006. There were a total of 48,885 visitor arrivals for the first quarter, an increase of approximately 4,500 persons over the same period in 2005. The U.S. remained the island's largest market with 28,969 visitor arrivals (approximately 60 percent market share), versus 25,055 in 2005, representing an increase of 15.6 percent. This comes on the heels of a successful 2005, when Anguilla had a 19 percent increase over the same twelve-month period in 2004.
