SKÅL International New York Forms Young SKÅL

July 20, 2010 By: George Dooley

The New York City chapter of Skål International, the largest organization of travel professionals in the world, reports the launch Young Skål. Young Skål will give students and young professionals in the tourism industry, who are between the ages of 20 and 29, the opportunity to participate in the international network of Skål, which includes over 25,000 members in 500 cities and 80 countries.

James Sorrell, president of Skål International NY and senior vice president of New York TAB, urged NY Skål members to “invest in the future of the club and industry” by recruiting professionals for Young Skål. Young Skålleagues, when qualified or on their 35th birthday, will automatically graduate to active membership in Skål, ensuring a continuous supply of new and young members in the club.

Atteending the lunch were Sorrell; Judi Stern, professor in the tourism and hospitality department at Kingsborough Community College/CUNY and chairperson of Young Skål; Sarah McHeffey, account executive at the Bradford Group and inaugural Young Skål member; and Karen Hoffman, president of the Bradford Group and a Young Skål Committee member.
