GBTA Applauds Launch of TSA PreCheck

business travelerThe Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), joined other industry groups to applaud the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) launch of an application program for TSA PreCheck. This new process will allow more U.S. citizens to enroll in TSA PreCheck, an expedited screening program that allows pre-approved airline travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on in select screening lanes.

“TSA is to be commended for launching another logical expansion of TSA PreCheck,” said GBTA Executive Director and COO Michael W. McCormick. “The new program will allow even more low-risk business travelers to undergo streamlined but secure check-point screening. With U.S. businesses sending their road warriors on more than 400 million business trips each year, TSA’s consistent efforts to reduce unnecessary travel hassles while ensuring aviation security is the right approach.”

GBTA said it has long supported TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, and other risk-based, intelligence-driven trusted traveler programs that benefit business travelers.

While ensuring security on every level, these programs make travel more efficient and reduce travel time. As the global marketplace becomes even more integrated, business travel will significantly increase if government authorities continue to take steps to ease travel burdens while ensuring security, GBTA says.
