Air New Zealand Adds Peak Season Flights to San Francisco

Air New Zealand will move to 10 roundtrip services per week on the Auckland - San Francisco route during the peak Northern winter period between mid-December and March 2015, including double daily flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

This will be the first time the airline has operated more than daily roundtrip services on the route, and represents a 10 percent increase in capacity over the previous Northern winter period.

In a statement, Air New Zealand Chief Sales and Commercial Officer Cam Wallace said that the Northern winter season is traditionally a busy travel period, with increased demand for the airline’s North American services. “The timing, which differs from our traditional long-haul evening departures, will give customers more choice around when they fly,” Wallace said, noting that the afternoon departure time of 3:30 p.m. and arrival time of 6:45 a.m. allows for easier connections, particularly to East Coast destinations.

Even better, the new aircraft will operate two services per day between Auckland and Los Angeles and six days per week between Auckland and San Francisco, so customers will be able to book the Premium Economy Spaceseat and Economy Skycouch on the San Francisco flights for the first time.

Tourism growth to New Zealand from the US increased nearly 11 percent in the past year, and is aligned with the Tourism Industry Association’s Tourism 2025 goal of growing sustainable air capacity.
