Australia Sets New Record for Inbound Travel to U.S

According to the recently released 2005 Australia Market Profile, Australia set a new record for inbound travel to the United States, surpassing a previous record set in 2000. In 2005, the 582,000 Australian visitors to the U.S. increased by 12 percent over 2004. The double-digit growth rate on travel to the U.S. from Australia is the second straight year for double-digit growth. In 2004, Australian travel to the U.S. grew by 28 percent. The dramatic growth in arrivals from this market has helped it move up in the rankings. In 2005, Australia was the eighth largest market generating visitors to the U.S. This is up from 12th in 2000.
