Qantas Increases A380 Flights, Offers Special Prices

January 19, 2010 By: Jena Tesse Fox

Qantas Airways said today it would significantly increase its Airbus A380 services between the United States and Australia beginning today.
Los Angeles-Sydney services will increase from four per week to daily; and Los Angeles-Melbourne services will increase from two to three per week. The move from six to 10 A380 services per week between the two countries followed the recent delivery of the airline’s fifth and sixth aircraft.
The announcement coincides with a range of special U.S. fares celebrating the annual G’Day USA 2010 event, now in its seventh year.
For travel booked before February 1, Qantas customers can save up to 40 percent on Economy and Premium Economy bookings and up to 60 percent in Business. Roundtrip Economy fares on flights to Sydney from Los Angeles and San Francisco start from $798, while round-trip Economy fares from New York to Sydney start at $998.
From today, Qantas will operate 40 return services per week between the United States and Australia, including 33 from Los Angeles (to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane), four from San Francisco and three from Honolulu
