Sydney Restaurant Focuses on Innovative Cuisine

Heads up, Down-Under foodies! QT Sydney opened its signature European-style brasserie, Gowings Bar & Grill, earlier this fall, and has already seen names like Jennifer Lopez, Ke$ha, Robert Pattinson, Mike Tyson and even chefs like Rick Stein in the reservation book.

Gowings Bar & Grill has an "eclectic menu" that we hear is focused on fresh local ingredients and wood-fired cooking methods from Executive Chef Paul Easson, formerly of Rockpool Bar & Grill in Melbourne, under the direction of Creative Food Director Robert Marchetti (the restaurateur behind some of Sydney's hottest tables, including North Bondi Italian and Icebergs Dining Room on Bondi Beach)

We hear that Marchetti and Easson's "imaginative takes" on such international staples as shrimp cocktail (Beer-steamed Prawn Cocktail, Cocktail Sauce with Fresh Wasabi and Cognac), rotisserie quail (Whole Roasted Quails Filled with Malt, Barley Bread, Sage, Parmesan and Double-Smoked Ham with Pea, Lemon Thyme Quail Sauce), veal cutlets (Milk-Fed Wiener Schnitzel Holstein with Organic Egg, Ortiz Anchovy, Nut Brown Butter) and cheesecake (Vanilla Goats Cheesecake, Raspberry Granita, Mint Jelly, Crunchy Raspberry Sherbet) are popular.

The wine list, under the direction of Gowings Bar & Grill's resident wine consultant Ian Cook, Managing Director at Five Way Cellars, includes a selection of approximately 120 Australian and international wines, from full-bodied South Australian reds to dry rose vintages from the South of France-perfect for pairing with Chef Easson's varied selection of international brasserie favorites.
