Two Festivals Celebrate Tasmania's Foodie Culture

Foodies headed Down Under should make a point to visit the island state of Tasmania this month, which has two culinary festivals that are already making us hungry.

Currently running through March 31, the Devonport Food and Wine Festival celebrates the best in Tasmanian cuisine, from the produce available at nearby farms and the vintages from local wineries. Festival highlights include cooking classes, cook-offs, exotic barbecues, family picnics, wine and beer tastings, culinary-themed dinners hosted by celebrity chefs, indulgent long lunches in vineyards.

And towards the end of the month on March 24, the Moonah Taste of the World Festival (in a suburb or Hobart) brings 20 eateries and food suppliers together to serve dishes from around the world. Last year, the festival saw more than 5,000 visitors, so be sure to get there early. Even better: Admission is free, and local Tasmanian musicians will perform throughout the day.
