Flight News
American Airlines is launching a daily Sydney-Los Angeles route on December 19 as part of an expanded partnership with Qantas. In addition, Qantas Airways will operate a new service between Sydney-San Francisco starting December 18, offering additional options to Sydney from the West Coast.
New Accommodations
The newly opened Old Clare Hotel is fast becoming the cultural heartbeat of Chippendale, Sydney’s newest food, shopping and arts precinct. The 62-room boutique hotel opened under the direction of Unlisted Collection in the restored Carlton United Brewery (CUB) Administration Building and is home to several signature restaurants including Automata, Kensington Street Social and Silvereye.
In addition, the highly anticipated opening of the QT Residences Bondi is set for later this year in Bondi Beach, featuring boutique hotel apartments right across the road from the world famous beach.
New Attractions
The Goods Line, a new, innovative urban corridor and open space in the heart of the city, has Sydneysiders buzzing with excitement since its opening in late August 2015. Similar to the High Line in New York City, the space began as a disused rail line and has been transformed into a vibrant elevated pedestrian walkway and cycle path, featuring recreational and entertainment spaces, grassed areas, a children’s water playground, table tennis, seating and more.
Opened in September 2015, Barangaroo Reserve is a park set on the western Sydney Harbour foreshore of the city’s Central Business District. The opening represents the completion of a decade-long vision to restore a Harbour headland to its natural state. Designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Walker, Barangaroo Reserve is inspired by the original Harbour headland that existed circa 1836, prior to reclamation.
Darling Harbour Update
The International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) is undergoing a $3.4 billion transformation in Darling Harbour. The project will offer greater capacity, state of the art facilities and new technology for events and conventions in Australia. The transformation project will also include the new landmark Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour five-star hotel with 600-room capacity, as well as a new commercial, residential and retail space set to open in 2017. In addition, as part of the revitalization of Darling Harbour, Four Points by Sheraton Sydney has also been undergoing a $160 million redevelopment. That project will see the current 683-room capacity increased by a further 222-rooms, new conference facilities and more.
