What’s Happening in Beverly Hills

The Beverly Hills Hotel

Poolside at The Beverly Hills Hotel is prime real estate for girlfriends on a mini-vacation.

Who doesn’t want a little taste of SoCal luxury for a great girlfriend getaway?

Montage Beverly Hills, a Forbes Five Star-winner, is steps away from Rodeo Drive, and has come up with a nifty Overnight Spa Escape. For $775 a night, a guest receives two 60-minute spa treatments of their choice at Spa Montage and daily Continental breakfast for two.

Are your clients just dropping by? Not staying at the resort? They can still pamper themselves silly with A Day of Indulgence, which includes a 60- minute massage or facial, a personalized fitness class in a private movement studio, access to the rooftop pool and a poolside lunch at The Conservatory Grill.

Once you’re done at the spa, you can, of course, head over to Rodeo Drive, where the fashionistas go to worship. We hear Badgley Mischka has just set up shop at this mecca of haute couture. The new two-level, 2,700-square-foot flagship on Rodeo Drive and Little Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills reflects Badgley Mischka’s aesthetic of modern and historical elements. Think chandeliers juxtaposed against reclaimed wood floors.

Brides-to-be meander upstairs to peer at the bridal collection—the first floor will include the Mark & James contemporary collection, handbags, eyewear, footwear, jewelry, etc.

Hanging With the Girls

We know girlfriends love hanging out at The Beverly Hills Hotel but we say that sport will get a bit more exciting when the big Pink Palace opens its two new Presidential Bungalows next January.

The hotel has given up its tennis courts to create space for the two private residences, which will both be more than 5,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space. Each will have three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. They’ll also boast a chef’s kitchen (with a wine cooler and private entrance for staff), a great room and study, plus a dining area. Bang & Olufsen high-definition TVs have been promised for virtually every room.

The outdoors will be graced by a private pool with underwater speakers, a garden shower, fitness area and fireplace. We say that’s a pretty swell way to soak up that glorious year-round California sun! The architectural style all around will be Mediterranean (as in vaulted ceilings, tile roofs and pretty little gardens), to match the hotel.

This is a great place to hide away. With full, inward-facing courtyards, an abundance of tall tropical landscaping, and security cameras and an alarm system, these butler-serviced bungalows will make you feel as safe as could be.

If you go, ask Concierge Abbas Golestani (310-276-2251, ext. 7788) to arrange for you to attend any of the L.A. award shows, including the Emmys, Grammys and the Golden Globes. He can also arrange for front-row seats at major movie premieres and for a “VIP Behind the Scenes Tour” of Universal Studios.

For Girls Who Need Their Space

What’s the best room in the house for girlfriend getaways at a hotel that’s just finished a $40 million renovation? If it’s the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel, we can think of two.

The Penthouse, with 5,000 square feet of space for the ladies (and others), has been completely transformed into a modern three-bedroom suite. The top-floor suite provides floor-to-ceiling window views of downtown L.A. and the Hollywood Hills.

We like the suite’s exclusivity (such as the private-key-access 14th floor of the Beverly Wing). The space includes a living room, media room, dining room, exhibition kitchen and master bathroom with deep soaking tub. The additional two guest bedrooms have their own bathrooms as well.

Slightly smaller than the Penthouse, the Presidential Suite measures 4,000 square feet and has two bedrooms. The living room includes a Crestron system that controls almost everything in the suite from the lights to the sound system and the curtains.

Nice touch: Guests of the Penthouse or Presidential Suite will have access to exclusive amenities such as use of a Porsche Panamera, dedicated personal concierge, complimentary airport transfers, fully stocked refrigerator and five hours of personal time per week (such as spa treatments, personal trainer, fashion stylist, or hair and makeup artist).
