Baha Mar to Now Have Only One of its Hotels Open by March 27

March 27 was supposed to be the date that four of the five planned hotels on the much-talked-about Baha Mar resort in Nassau, The Bahamas, were supposed to open its doors to eager guests.

But it looks like that number has been shrunk to one.

Alyssa Bushey, vice president of communications for Baha Mar, told Travel Agent Friday morning that the $3.5 billion project will have finished rooms only at its flagship Baha Mar Casino & Hotel on March 27.

On that date, there will be a soft opening of the Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, all public areas including the SLS LUX at Baha Mar, Rosewood at Baha Mar and Grand Hyatt at Baha Mar lobbies and lobby bars, core amenities, and entertainment and recreation areas, says Bushey.

“We are on track to have all hotels open by our grand opening celebration in May,” she told us.

The Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, resort core amenities, entertainment and recreation areas, including The Beach Sanctuary and TPC at Baha Mar, will be open on March 27. SLS LUX at Baha Mar, Rosewood at Baha Mar and Grand Hyatt at Baha Mar public areas and lobby bars will be open on March 27 and will welcome hotel guests shortly thereafter. The pools, a variety of dining experiences, live entertainment and recreation areas (snorkeling, beach activities, golf) will be open on March 27. The Baha Mar Sanctuary and its amenities will be opened March 27. ESPA at Baha Mar will be offering limited spa services on March 27, with a full opening shortly thereafter.

“Baha Mar will be a paced opening to ensure we deliver an extraordinary guest experience,” says Bushey. “We expect all of our hotels, as well as the additional restaurants, retail and amenities to be opened by our Grand Opening festivities in early May.”

Melia Nassau Beach will also be part of the development, but not necessarily this year. The property needs to complete its second phase of renovations, which includes a full makeover of all guestrooms, before it officially changes its name to Melia at Baha Mar and gets the official Baha Mar stamp of approval.
