Baha Mar Opening Delayed Again

Baha Mar

Baha Mar, which had previously pushed back its opening date from March 27 until early May, has delayed its opening again, according to the Bahamas Tribune

Baha Mar Senior Vice President of External and Governmental Affairs Robert Sands told the Tribune that he could not confirm an opening date for the resort, which is still being discussed with resort advisors. According to the Tribune's analysis of the Baha Mar website, the earliest date for bookings now available is September 8, although some OTAs like Expedia are showing June bookings at the Rosewood at Baha Mar

To get an in-depth look at what Baha Mar will look like, our sister publication, Luxury Travel Advisor, traveled to the new resort to meet with its top executives. Here's the profile piece, which we published March 1.

The resort had originally set its opening date for March 27, but that opening date was delayed until the first week of May. Baha Mar representatives said at the time that work by the lead contractor on the property had not met the resort's "standards of excellence."

“In setting our opening date for March 27, we relied in good faith on the representations of the resort’s construction manager and lead contractor,” Baha Mar said in a statement at the time. “Last Friday, based on this party’s repeated assurances, Baha Mar announced that it would begin a paced opening beginning March 27 and culminating in its grand opening scheduled for early May.
