Report: China Airlines Considers Offering Charter Flights to The Bahamas

China Eastern Airlines is looking to offer charter flights to The Bahamas

Want China Times is reporting that China Eastern Airlines will undertake a feasibility test on charter flights from China to The Bahamas with hopes of bringing more Chinese tourists and investors to the Caribbean destination.

In fact, the first direct flight between China and the Caribbean will begin this September. Air China announced it would launch its first direct air route, from Beijing to the Cuban capital of Havana, on Sept. 28, marking a huge cut in travel time between China and the Caribbean, according to the report.

With the visa-waiver policy, Chinese visitors can stay up to 30 days in the Bahamas, which would help further promote bilateral tourism exchanges, said Perry Christie, prime minister of The Bahamas.

Travel Agent expects more and more destinations to look into adding direct service to The Bahamas because its much-anticipated Baha Mar resort project is expected to be completed by late March. The project, which has been years in the making, has garnered much buzz among Caribbean specialists and clients.

Baha Mar will feature 2,200 luxury guest rooms across four hotels – Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, Rosewood at Baha Mar, Grand Hyatt at Baha Mar and SLS LUX at Baha Mar – along with the one of the Caribbean’s largest casino, a 100,000-square-foot facility featuring a full array of the latest slots and table games. In addition, the resort's TPC at Baha Mar Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, ESPA spa, pools, beach experiences and many restaurants and luxury shops will be part of the highly anticipated resort experience upon opening.
