Los Cabos Launches Third Annual International Film Festival

The Los Cabos International Film Festival ran November 12 - 16 in Los Cabos, Mexico for its third year.

The director of the festival, Alonso Aguilar-Castillo, introduced the festival, which marks the unofficial reopening of Los Cabos after the September Hurricane Odile struck the area.

The Opening Ceremony had 1,200 attendees including Reese Witherspoon who introduced the Latin American Premiere of Wild, the most recent film from Dallas Buyers Club director Jean-Marc Vallee.

Roger Ebert's biopic called Life Itself also made its Latin American premier. Chas Ebert, Ebert’s widow, accepted the posthumous honor presented for his late husband.

The festival also had the premier of Mommy, Words With Gods, and Boyhood.

For the second year, the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund (GFFF), named after the film maker, chose seven Mexican feature films in the development stage and granted them $5,000 each as well as granting two films in post-production $52,000 each in Labodigital.
