Bermuda Chosen for America's Cup 2015 World Series Racing Event

bermudaThe America’s Cup Event Authority announced that the America’s Cup World Series - a racing circuit featuring the best sailors in the world competing on foiling, wing-sailed catamarans - will be coming to Bermuda in October 2015.
 
The America’s Cup World Series is the first stage of competition in the 35th America’s Cup and begins in the summer of 2015. Featuring all of the America’s Cup teams racing in one design AC45 catamarans, the circuit is an early opportunity to put points on the board that carry forward into the next stage of the competition.

Bermuda remains as one of two contenders to host the final stages of the America’s Cup in 2017. San Diego is the other. Travel Agent was told a decision on the final venue is expected in early December.

"There is an undeniable prestige to America’s Cup races, bringing discerning travelers from around the globe as well as a significant amount of global media attention," said Bill Hanbury, CEO of the Bermuda Tourism Authority, in a written release. "We’re excited to have such a perfectly-suited platform to showcase all that Bermuda has to offer the international sailing community.”
