New Hotel Opens in Vancouver's Coal Harbour

Following a traditional blessing by Musqueam First Nation Elder Jewel Thomas, Coast Hotels & Resorts' new flagship property, the 20-story, 220-room Coast Coal Harbour Hotel in downtown Vancouver, opened its doors to visitors and rolled out the welcome mat.

The $60 million four-star, full-amenity Coast Coal Harbour Hotel, located at 1180 West Hastings Street, offers a range of accommodation for business and leisure travelers, including 500 square-foot premium suites on the top floor with views of the North Shore mountains and view suites with balconies and comfort rooms. Hotel rooms average 340 square feet and are equipped with 32-inch LCD TVs and bathrooms featuring porcelain tile, freestanding vanities with hand-made stone tops, and custom light features.

“Completion of the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel is the culmination of more than three years of planning and hard work," said Graeme Barrit, president of Coast Hotels & Resorts. "The opening of this hotel is a testament to the long-term confidence Coast Hotels & Resorts has in Vancouver's tourism market."

The Coast Coal Harbour Hotel features a 5,000-square-foot ballroom and conference facility on the third and fourth floors, which includes 20-foot-high north-facing windows. Natural light streaming through the multi-story floor-to-ceiling windows creates a bright, airy environment during the day and helps illuminate West Hastings Street in the evening. The hotel also includes six private meeting rooms, a full service business center, a 1,200-square-foot fully equipped gym, locker room and a landscaped podium roof deck on the fifth floor with an outdoor lap pool and hot tub. Four levels of underground parking are also available.

The West Pender Street side of the hotel will be the site of a new stand-alone 105-seat restaurant. Specializing in west coast cuisine, the 2,200-square-foot restaurant's upper dining area will include 11 private booths. At street level, the restaurant will feature an 18-foot long solid cypress communal table surrounded by sleek, red leather chairs set against a backlit wall mural depicting Vancouver's cityscape
