Scrub Island Resort, British Virgin Islands, Names New General Manager

Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina in the Birtish Virgin Islands recently appointed three industry veterans to fill key director-level positions at the resort – general manager, executive chef and director of human resources.

Federico Ciampi, the hotel's new general manager, is a 10-year veteran of the hospitality industry, who was previously general manager at the Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel in Manchester, England. Prior to his time in Manchester, Ciampi served as general manager at The Glasshouse Hotel, a Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland.

A nearly 30-year veteran of the culinary industry, Scott Vogel, joins the Scrub Island Resort team as the new executive chef. Vogel comes to Scrub Island Resort from IAT Consulting Group in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he was principal partner and executive chef. IAT focused on every aspect of restaurants, from architecture to management.

Born in the British Virgin Islands, Ishma Edwards is the resort’s new director of human resources. She will supervise and provide consultation on strategic staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget and labor relations for the resort’s 140 on- and off-island staff. With more than a decade of labor experience in the BVI, Edwards came to Scrub Island Resort from the British Virgin Islands Department of Labour, where she worked as senior labor officer.

Opened in July 2010, Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina is named after its location, a 230-acre private island situated at the east end of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. The first luxury resort development in the destination in more than 15 years and first member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection in the Caribbean, the resort features 52 guest accommodations as well as a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom villas.
