The newly released California Road Trips 2011 guide showcases the sights and tastes of California visitors can experience by car. Produced by the California Travel and Tourism Commission (CTTC) and Sunset Publishing, the guide offers special two- to three-day driving getaways along with more detailed routes for longer vacations.
This year’s theme to the guide, “Wine and Food Getaways,” showcases the abundant wine regions, world-class chefs, innovative cuisines and locally grown and artisanal foods for which the state has become known. In addition to exploring the state’s culinary culture, the guide also features a wide variety of activities for travelers to stop and explore along the way.
The guide features many different itineraries to appeal to varied tastes. The “Desert Delights” trip takes drivers on a desert excursion to dune rambles and canyon hikes. “Down in the Valley” showcases California’s fertile farmland, wine country and friendly rural towns. “High Peaks and Haute Cuisine” combines fine food with outdoor adventure in the High Sierra.
This year’s issue of Road Trips will see a distribution of 1 million copies. President and CEO of the CTTC, Caroline Beteta, said, “The road trip is an integral part of the California experience. When visitors travel our roadways, they can experience some of the best this state has to offer, from breathtaking coastal highways to majestic mountain drives to everything in between.”
