Just Back From Paradisus Cancun

Travel Agent is just back from the newly rebranded Paradisus Resort in Cancun. Originally a Gran Melia, the resort changed names as of December 1, boasting six restaurants and three bars, several pools, a YHI Spa, golf course and more.

Who to Pitch to: We say that this resort is perfect for your clients that are looking for a bit more flexibility in an all-inclusive experience, along with several finer touches that put this resort in an upper category.

Guests staying at Paradisus Cancun have the option of dining at the resort's specialty restaurants, all of which are included in the rate. (This is with the exception of Tempo, which is a restaurant headed by Michelin Star chef Martín Berasategui.)

Paradisus Cancun is also home to the specialty Royal Service, a private enclave of rooms that are adults-only, and come with their own set of privileges. Those who book four nights in the Royal Service section receive an included meal at Tempo. Royal Service guests also have access to the YHI Spa's hydrotherapy suite without having a treatment scheduled. A private pool and beach section is also available for guests of Royal Service.

The resort offers a selection of Life Enriching experiences to help bring guests closer to the culture of Mexico and Cancun. We participated in a tequila tasting with the resort's sommelier. Guests can also opt for experiences like massage classes, DJ lessons and more.

While the resort is an all-inclusive, it is not a typical all-inclusive atmosphere. We found that it was a tranquil experience and that it was large enough that we did not feel overwhelmed and claustrophobic. The separate dining experiences offered a wide variety of cuisine options, all of which reversed our thinking about all-inclusive dining. Even the buffet had incredibly fresh options and live cooking stations.

While we would not recommend this for your Ritz-Carlton client list, we definitely think that your clients that are looking for a more sophisticated resort experience would feel right at home.
