The Serenity of Dreams TulumJune 25, 2007 By: Joe Pike Travel Agent
AMResorts' secluded retreat is ideal for families and couples
Travel Agent decided to take our recent press trip to Cancun a bit further...about two hours further to be exact. After touring AMResorts' Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa, where we swam with dolphins we took the two-hour drive to Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa. Like Dreams Cancun, this property offers a host of amenities for families and couples.
While Dreams Cancun is full of energy, with an array of
poolside activities, Dreams Tulum offers a more relaxed retreat. Book this
resort for families and couples looking for a more remote area of
The surroundings are undeveloped for the most part and virtually untouched.
In fact, when we looked out the window of our room, we saw
the resort and nothing else. The property is surrounded by trees, making guests
feel like they are staying in their own private village.
If clients want a little of both worlds, we recommend staying
at Dreams Cancun and having the property arrange for personal car service to
Dreams Tulum. Suggest a stay of two or three days at each, starting at Dreams
Cancun. When your clients get bushed from swimming with dolphins and other
activities at Dreams Cancun, they can relax in Tulum and regain some energy
before heading back home.
Beaches and Ruins Along the Riviera Maya
Dreams Tulum is on a beach in the Riviera Maya and is
surrounded by many acres of tropical forest and colonial architecture. Tulum is
actually five minutes away from the resort. The resort is also 30 minutes from
Playa del Carmen. One of the property's highlights is the extraordinary view
from the beach, as guests can actually see the ancient ruins of Tulum.
We stayed at the Deluxe Garden View Room, which is a
hacienda-style standard room. It has a private balcony-terrace with a hammock
overlooking the garden.
The best room, however, is the Dreams Presidential Suite, a
hacienda-style suite with colonial décor, a bedroom with a four-poster
king-size bed and a marble bathroom with shower, double sink and Jacuzzi.
But the property isn't just for couples: Dreams Tulum's
children's program, the Explorers' Club, is fully supervised for kids ages
three to 12. Here children can take part in sand-castle-building competitions,
arts and crafts, movies on the beach and other activities.
Many of the restaurants on property, including Portofino
Restaurant, Himitsu Restaurant and the World Café, are the same as at Dreams
Additionally, it is home to El Patio, serving à la carte
gourmet dishes. Casual attire is welcome. It is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for
lunch and from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. for dinner.
And the casual elegant
restaurant, offering French cuisine, is open from 6 to 11 p.m. for dinner only.
Dreams Tulum offers agents 10 percent commission.
