GBTA and MPI Partner for Education and Training

handshakeThe Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) have announced a new joint venture to co-create new  education and training opportunities. The focus will be the meetings management industry and marketplace.

GBTA said a company is being formed with an executive steering committee to operate and manage the new curriculum which is expected to be available in 2013. Both organizations are bringing together their expertise and research capabilities to develop and deliver these new educational and training offerings.

The new senior level education will be available to both MPI and GBTA members. Current designations will continue to be recognized by MPI and the GBTA Academy. The new educational program is being derived from GBTA’s Strategic Meetings Management Certification (SMMC) and MPI’s Certificate in Meetings Management (CMM) program.

GBTA has 5,000-plus members who manage over $340 billion of global business travel and meetings expenditures annually. MPI has more than 21,000 members representing 84 countries worldwide.
