The carrier last week named Robert Isom to its newly created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer. Isom, who previously served in senior management positions for Northwest Airlines and American Airlines, will lead operations for US Airways, including flight and in-flight services, maintenance and engineering, airport customer service, reservations, cargo and the carrier's Express operation.

"In addition to possessing a strong background in international and domestic airline operations, Robert brings a good balance of customer-focused ideas and the right analytical skills to help US Airways navigate in an ever-evolving industry," US Airways President Scott Kirby said in a statement.
