Barbados Names New Marketing VP

Rudder

Campbell Rudder has been named Vice President of Marketing for the U.S. by the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA). In his role, Rudder is charged with increasing visibility for the island and bringing a fresh approach to marketing. He will sustain the upward growth trends in the U.S market and create new opportunities for the Barbados as a destination.

“I am pleased to be a member of the BTA team and look forward to enhancing the overall vision and performance of the tourism sector through tactical and focused strategies. These tactics will further lead to increased passenger arrivals to the island, along with boosting economic growth within the overall tourism sector,” Rudder said.

Since the beginning of 2011, the BTA reported significant growth with a 5.5 percent increase in arrivals at the end of March from the U.S. market, equating to an increase of 2,043 visitors to the island from 2010.

“Rudder joins the team at a crucial time, where despite recessionary conditions, current marketplace trends indicate tremendous possibilities for the destination. Consumers remain loyal to seeking value-added purchases, and are now returning to travel professionals since they are aware of the value they offer,” the BTA said.

The team will continue its outreach to key tourism and travel industry professionals. Rudder is based in the BTA's New York office. He brings over 30 years of travel experience and expertise to the new position including serving as Air Jamaica’s top marketing executive for the northern region of the U.S.
